Five elements to achieve holistic
living
We chose the name Elementals both
for its connotations with western nature spirits known as 'elementals'
and the system of Chinese Five Element Theory which describes the
cycle of life and activity in all living things.
The symbol that you will see on all our pages is representative of this cycle and is shown as a five pointed star within a circle. The circle represents the creative or 'growth' part of the cycle and the star the control that is required to bring natural order.
This ancient system can be applied to the seasons,
our own lives and the various stages of personal choices we make
in life. As movement is essential for life, we all go through the
cycle many times. We create and implement new plans and ideas
via Water and Wood, expand on them with Fire, grounding and consolidating
them through Earth and Metal to be stored in the quietness of Water until we are ready to start the process again.
Five Element Theory can also be used to tell us where we, society and the planet
are out of balance and elementals... encourages us to restore this
balance by 'living holistically' e.g. via actions which respect
ourselves and the planet.
Given the state of the environment and the health issues that many
of us are now facing, we need to be clear about the effects of the
food we eat, the products we use, the medicines we take, and the
waste we produce. We need to live holistically taking care of our
bodies, homes and planet, honouring the cycles of the earth and
ourselves and using the ever depleting resources of the planet responsibly.
You can achieve this balance in your life and your home...
