Garry Brown, DriftwoodArts

Garry Brown is a self employed Dundee artist who works mainly with driftwood. Garry has a strong interest in the low impact and recyclability aspects of his artworks. The wood he utilises is generally discarded timber from construction, damaged boats, fence posts, etc. that has made it's way into the sea. The natural sculpting elements of water, wind, sun and sand on the wood produce fabulous grains, textures and features making every sculpted item unique.

The range includes decorative clocks and cabinets through to more unusual bespoke and sculptural pieces. We are hoping to link to Garry's online 'Driftwood Dolls House' exhibition in September and please contact us if you would like more information on Garry's work.

Driftwood Heart Necklace & Bracelet Set

An eco-friendly gift for the one you love...

Driftwood heart fixed with reclaimed copper wire to hemp twine and beaded using beads from Beads Unlimited & local bead shop. Necklace pendant size( inc. fixing) approx. 9cm and overall length of beaded twine 50cm in total. Bracelet to match, approx. length 20cm with smalll driftwood heart. Both fixed with heart shaped silver plated toggle clasp.

Heart Gift Pack

20cm Fair Trade basket containing a beautiful driftwood brooch, driftwood pendant and lavendar sachet - an ideal gift for someone you love. The driftwood pendants have a reclaimed copper loop with sea- green waxed cotton cord which is designed to hang long but is adjustable. The lavendar sachets are made from home-grown lavendar from a beautiful garden in Bankfoot, Perthshire.

All the brooches and pendants are different so an image of your gift basket can be forwarded to on request you prior to depatch to ensure you get the right pack for you.

Felting Kit

Hand made felt is made from wool fibres which under the application of water, heat and pressure contract into a strong and dense mat. This kit contains instructions, a small bamboo mat, a piece of netting, approx. 30g Merino wool in three different colours and will allow you to learn the basic technique for producing felt.

Tree Decorations

Decorations made from the lovely driftwood heart blanks which are a by-product of DriftwoodArts. Produced using a variety of materials including reclaimed copper wire, hemp twine, reclaimed and new ribbon and waxed cotton combined with bright coloured new and reclaimed beads - perfect to jazz up your home for Christmas. They come in various colourwaydependant on what colours of ribbons have been recycled or purchased. The current colour range includes orange, deep purple, cerise, apple and lilac. Some of the ribbons come from M&S cakes, flower giftpacks and old craft supplies - any ribbon or beads that are purchased are bought from small, local suppliers or the Brighton Bead Company.

Approximate size of driftwood heart is 30mm-60mm wide by 40mm-80mm high with copper hanger and ribbon this increases to approx. 100-200mm. They're all different so please e-mail us if you have any preferences.

Hand-made paper

Pack of four sheets of hand-made paper produced in St Fillans, Scotland from recycled paper and natural elements such as petals, seeds, etc. Please contact us if you have a colour preference otherwise a random pack of colours will be sent. Each sheet is approximately A4.

Organic Felt Handbag

This 'natural look' bag has been handfelted from 90% UK sourced organic cheviot wool and 10% mixed fibres sourced locally. It's fully lined and decorated with needle-felted, pebble shapes, 'Navaho' spun wool (again hand-produced) and 'sparkly bits from various sources. The size is approximately 30cm deep x 25cm/30cm wide (n/i handle) and there are no internal pockets, etc.

Organic Wool & Silk Scarf

Designed to co-ordinate with the Organic Felt Handbag, this scarf is made by felting organic wool and other fibres onto silk producing a sheer effect that is surprisingly warm. Sizes do vary but are approximately 135cm long x 15-20cm wide.
